football sunday.

Lobsterman and I have gotten way into watching the 49ers play every Sunday. Or rather, I've gotten into it - since he has always been a fan. Now that my sister is a San Fran resident, I feel an even stronger inclination towards the city.

Rather than eat wings and greasy crap on Sundays during the game, we make things like crabcakes.

Freshly picked of course.

problems.

I can't stop eating pumpkin pastries. It's a problem. I devoured this tray of pumpkin muffins BY MYSELF after deeming them too "burned" to bring to a work function.

A few days later I made a pumpkin loaf. It's pretty much gone. It's a little too soon for me to be gaining holiday weight.

on going meatless.

about two months ago i decided to experiment with going meatless. it's gone pretty well. i haven't noticed a huge change in my body, but the fact that i'm not eating it has made me feel less guilty about all the bad things meat can do to the body. (please note i have slipped up 7 times in the past two months, not too shabby) my biggest fear was that i'd become a "carb loader" and just gorge myself on pasta. that would not be ideal. but instead i've embraced delicious treats like tempeh, tofurkey dogs and even tofu now that i know how to use it!

do you eat meat? are you a vegetarian? have any good recipes to share? here's one i've been using a lot.

Accidental Health.

There's this cheesy nutri-grain bar commercial that basically says if you start the day with one healthy choice, many more will follow. Whatevs, I thought. But then, I read about the green monster. So I tried it. I've had it for breakfast every morning for the past two weeks.

Then there's the quinoa I've been eating for lunch every day. Um. I love the taste with avocado and dates and tomatoes and peppers. And here's the thing - it's like the healthiest food on earth.

And I've discovered the non-fat organic stonyfield yogurts as a mid-afternoon snack. What's happening to me?

Folks, I've gotten healthy and I haven't even tried to do it.

Mod.

Look at these amazing modern gingerbread houses spotted on Babble. The dorito roof and banana chip patio trees kill me.

Sweetness.

Have you been to Sweet Estelle's Baking Supply? No? Well, look at what you're missing!

Yup. Unbelievably obsessed. Must make these immediately so I can place a large order. How was your weekend? I have a fabulous time visiting my family and best pal. I never wanted it to end. At least I have cupcakes to dream about.

On Lobsters.

I've realized that many of you probably don't eat lobsters on a weekly basis like I do in the summer. Not to sound overly lucky or anything, but I forget that they're even a delicacy in the summer since I eat them so much. I do live in Maine afterall.

Here is a crate of lobsters before dinner.

Lobsters boiling in a pot on the beach. This is the part that makes me impatient.

And here they are being devoured. Oh so yum. It's important to have lots of butter on hand.

Outdoor Oasis.

Summer is almost (officially) here. All I want to do with my weekends is dine alfresco with friends and eat juicy burgers and drink some margaritas. Here's a few things I'd like to have at an outdoor soiree.

Biodegradable cold cups (for said margaritas)

Colorful melamine plates so as not to be wasteful. Plus - so much prettier than paper!

Lovely lanterns so we can stay outside, even when the sun goes down.

A giant picnic blanket so I can sit back and look at the stars.

For BBQ's And The Like.

I'd love to be able to have cafeteria style trays like these to hand out at a bbq. You can load up on hamburgers, potato salad and your drink with these. And they're vintage which makes them cooler. And I'd probably serve spiked lemonade in this poured into these.

Recipes.

Lobsterman and I have a new system where I am forced to cook twice a week. Sigh. It's amazing that I come from a family of brilliant cooks, live with a great cook and I'm expected to make my own meals. I have aquiesced to his request and here are some meals I plan on trying.

Blue Cheese Scallion drop biscuits from SmittenKitchen. Not a meal per say, but they look delicious.

Tina's big fat salad. It looks delicious and involves little cooking. Yay.

Gourmet's oven fried panko chicken. I mean, it's gotta be healthier than a deep fryer, right?

Have any good easy recipes that I can't mess up? Please. Send. HELP!

Iced Coffee.

Sometimes I am too lazy to turn on the coffee pot in the morning. I know, I know. Lately I've gotten used to stopping into my local coffee shop for an iced latte on the way to work. No more my friends! No more! My wallet will appreciate the purchase of this.

Now that I have an uber cute vessel to carry my homemade iced coffee's to work in, I shall have no excuse.

Nuts & Bolts, $14

UPDATE: My 22 year old brother just emailed me to request this for his birthday. Sigh. Men never grow up do they?
